Nancy Clutter the youngest daughter of Herb and Bonnie Clutter is characterized as the town darling. Nancy is the women of the house and never had a best relationship with her mother Bonnie. Nancy has 3 sibling, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

During the time period of this book women only cooked, cleaning, and took care of their children. Mrs.Clutter because of her “mental illness” couldn’t do things like that for her family so Nancy took over that role in the house. Nancy also saw that it was her job to teach other girls how to do task around the house. Nancy is also very embraced of her mother. which could be the reason why none of her friends had ever been alone with her mother. Nancy’s character never changed throughout the book. in the book it even says that she was joyful and kind up until her death. Nancy being. a static character is important because it shows a balance in the Clutter family since Bonnie can’t do things around the house.
